Construction workers come into contact with a lot of hazardous materials and substances. Wearing protection is a requirement for the majority. Different construction industries require different gear. Following are some examples of what is worn by the different while on a construction site.
Roofers
Roofers are in direct exposure to the weather elements. The beating hot sun, winds, and cold temperatures are just a few of the extremes they face. In addition to the natural elements, they are also exposed to other potential hazards while working. Roofing equipment can be extremely dangerous and can pose a risk of injury. Roofers wear heavy duty protective gloves to protect from the roofing nails, glues and other unsafe items that are used while installing and repairing roofing systems. Protective boots are also worn to shield the feet and ankles from falling and penetrative debris.
During the colder months, roofers can wear protective jumpsuits to shield them from the biting weather as they can provide additional insulation while working in the late fall and winter.
HVAC
Heating and air conditioning workers often wear protective work jumpsuits for men. The jumpsuits protect them while working on large commercial HVAC systems. Dirt and debris are constantly blowing from air conditioning fans, causing fiberglass and other hazardous materials to fly around while working. The jumpsuits can protect against the itchy fiberglass and any other particulates in the air while working on a commercial or large job site.
Inspectors
Inspectors often go to construction job sites to check on the progress of the projects. On any given day, they can be exposed to small airborne matter, dirty water or toxic liquids. Many wear jumpsuits to protect them from any unforeseen situations they may find themselves in. The jumpsuits used can be disposable or non-disposable depending on the severity of the hazard.
