What is Restylane?

If you have ever had Botox, or are considering a plastic surgery procedure, you may have heard the term, “Restylane” and wondered what it was. Restylane Chicago clinics help both women and men look and feel better.

Restylane is a filler made of biodegradable, non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid, or NASHA. It is made from natural substances that are found in living organisms and gives skin a volume and fullness. It is FDA-approved. It is a gel made of hyaluronic acid. It is produced in a sterile laboratory environment. There is very little risk of patients having an allergic reaction, even if they are sensitive to such foods as eggs, beef and chicken. Restylane doesn’t require skin or allergy tests prior to injection.

The gel is inserted into the skin as an injection and is used to treat moderate or severe folds and facial wrinkles. It can also be used for lip augmentation for those over the age of 21.

The difference between Restylane and Botox is that the former will show results immediately, while Botox takes a few days. It also lasts longer, up to six months or even longer, depending on the injection site. NASHA, unlike other hyaluronic acid products, isn’t derived from any animal sources.

In the U.S., the product has been used in over ten million procedures and is considered extremely safe and effective.

Many clinics that offer Botox will also offer this type of procedure. If you want more information about both procedures, visit a clinic and speak with a qualified and licensed professional to have all of your questions answered.

One of the big differences between Restylane and Botox are this: Restylane is used to treat folds and wrinkles that are present when your face is in a neutral or relaxed position; Botox is used to treat wrinkles and lines that appear when you make certain facial expressions. Chicagoland Aesthetics is a highly regarded Restylane Chicago clinic that can help you decide what’s right for you.
