Staying motivated is not always easy. Let’s be honest, determination is fickle and willpower is a limited resource. How many times have you been leaving work and though, “Today is the day I start exercising!” or something similar, but by the time you get home that desire is gone, replaced with the desire to do nothing more than sit on the couch and watch TV? Well, here are a couple of tips for avoiding this situation. If you are still having trouble getting motivated it may be time to see a Sydney motivational speaker.
Stop Procrastinating
This is a big one, procrastination. The longer you keep telling yourself, “I’ll do it tomorrow,” the longer you are denying yourself any type of growth. Not only that, but in many cases you are actually moving away from your goal. For example, let’s say your goal is to lose weight. Well, every day you say you will start tomorrow you get a little unhealthier. Once you finally do get motivated to work out and improve your health you not only have the past to undo, but also any time you spent procrastinating. Stop wasting time, just get out there and do it.
Get Rid of Distractions
If your phone is causing a distraction, leave it in another room. If the TV is distracting you, unplug it. Find whatever is distracting you from your goals and get it out of the way. You don’t have to get rid of it completely, obviously, but it does help to remove it from the equation for the time being until you are able to work even while distracted.
Set Milestones
This is one to really help keep you moving. Too many people get discouraged because their goal seems like it is too much to accomplish all at once. The beauty here is that it doesn’t have to be all at once. Break your goal down into milestones, which can easily be accomplished. Let’s say you want to train to run a marathon. You aren’t going to just jump in and say “Tomorrow I’m going to run a marathon,” that is a good way to get hurt and discouraged at the same time. Instead, start with something simple like running a mile in under ten minutes and go from there.
